Keeping Yakthung Stories Alive

While there is a significant body of literature on Yakthung Limbu culture and knowledge, access remains a real challenge for many individuals interested in exploring these resources. In an era of rapid cultural change, the urgency to preserve and pass down our traditions, art, language, historical narratives, and heritage is greater than ever. We believe that important documents and materials related to Yakthung culture should be available to anyone seeking a deeper connection to their roots and identity. Broadening access to this knowledge is not just about convenience; it is a vital step toward safeguarding it for future generations.

This pressing need led to the establishment of the Yakthung Limbu Heritage Archives (YLHA). The Archives is dedicated to the collection, protection, and preservation of books, manuscripts, audiovisual materials, inscriptions, and other cultural artifacts that reflect the Yakthung Limbu community’s legacy. A key part of this mission involves digitizing these materials to ensure their longevity and accessibility. By sharing these resources through a digital platform, the YLHA aims to promote a deeper understanding of Yakthung culture and secure its legacy for generations to come.
